Drones serve many purposes from aerial exploration to photography and beyond. Now we can add an implementation of life-saving techniques to the list. Ford Motor Company is working toward improving the safety of people all over the world by partnering with a drone manufacturer for a Developer Challenge. The goal of the drone challenge is to enhance the capabilities of drones for first responders, including rescuers, police officers, and other emergency personnel.

As part of the Developer Challenge hosted by drone manufacturer DJI, entrants are tasked with the responsibility of creating a system that can be utilized in critical situations, including search and rescue and more. Each competitor will utilize the Ford brand’s SYNC® AppLink™ technology to allow the drones to take off and land on the backs of moving Ford F-150 trucks during rescue missions. The truck will serve as a launchpad, giving drivers the ability to move around at greater distances while using drone technology for emergency assistance.
While we eagerly wait for drone-enabled Ford F-150 trucks to arrive in the Rochester region, we invite you to schedule a Ford test drive of your dream pickup at Cortese Ford Lincoln. Stop by and explore our current lineup of new Ford trucks for sale in Rochester, NY today!
